The exploration process of Tabas coal deposits started in 1355 under the title "Tabas Exploration Unit" by Zob Ahan of Isfahan. With the completion of part of the exploration information, the mentioned unit was renamed to "Tabas Mineral Exploration Complex" in 1369, and with the aim of continuing exploration operations, carrying out technical and economic studies and mining design, continued the work of Tabas Coal District. With the completion of the phase of technical and economic studies and preliminary design and with government investment, the mentioned complex was renamed to "Tabas Coal Mines Equipment Plan" in 1377, and the mission of designing, building and equipping the first and central coal mines of ParvadehOne Tabas region With the aim of producing 1.5 million tons of raw coal and 750,000 tons of coal concentrate, it was commissioned. The employer of this project was National Steel Company of Iran and the contractor of the project was Iritech-Irasco consortium. With the completion of the equipping phase in 2016, the aforementioned government project was renamed to "Tabas Coal Unit" to start the mine exploitation phase.
